a current carrying wire producing the magnetic field around it.

We have to find the direction of current in wire.

Step 2: Simplify

From the diagram, here the cross sign indicates the magnetic field inward the paper and the dot sign indicts the magnetic field outward the paper.

Now by using right hand thumb rule curl the field in the direction of magnetic field and the thumb will show the direction of current which is downward.
